MATERNITY CARE: A LETTER TO THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR HEALTH & SOCIAL CARE

MATERNITY CARE: A LETTER TO THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR HEALTH & SOCIAL CARE

.

In light of the current situation across maternity & the new appointment of Teresé Coffey MP as Secretary of State for Health & Social Care, today on the day that the independent investigation into East Kent maternity services was due to publish its now-delayed final report, the maternity sector is calling for urgent and meaningful intervention from the Government.

.

Multiple organizations ( including us @lgbt_mummies ) within the maternity sector have come together to sign this joint letter, asking her to hold true to the Government’s promise that she will have a renewed commitment in the recent Women’s Health Strategy, & we are calling on her in her role & the Uk Government to urgently act & invest the £250-£300 million promised.

Safer Births

.

In the reel is the letter that we have sent to the @ukgovofficial TODAY asking them to heed their promise & that it is now critical that they need to address the poor maternity care which has well-evidenced long term and ongoing physical and mental health implications for those giving birth, their babies, and their families.

.

Please share far & wide to help us ensure the Government I invest the £250-£300 million promised to improve maternity care for women & birthing people
